Another part of my Office

Vinyl Chalkboard wall decal Calendar that I have up in my office, sorry for the lighting. I Love it so much! I use a chalk ink pen marker on it and normal white chalk sticks. I keep finding cute little drawings and notes from my daughters on it. For a quick fix I just wipe with my hand, but otherwise I just use damp towel to erase the vinyl chalkboard clean.

I have been playing around with new designs and shapes, too.
Check out some of the new things I have been working on here in Chalkboard.

I can't believe it's July, and back to School is creeping up on us again. weee!!! :D

Here are a few Etsy Seller Tips to get you in the right direction for better success.

1. Make sure your {Shop Announcement} is filled in with important information about the items you are selling. Not about yourself or the craft you love. Write about yourself in the Profile page area instead. You will want to do away with your first sentence saying "Welcome to my shop". The first 250 - 400 words is crucial to your search-ability, getting customers into your shop by Google,yahoo, Bing, etc.

{example:} Hand printed posters, silk screened Tshirts and Coffee mugs. Full service printing and custom work. We use High Quality Poster paper stock and 100% cotton t shirts.

you get the idea... make sure you are describing what you are selling in those first few lines of the announcement. {it Helps!}

2. Pictures. I'm sure everyone thinks this is a beaten horse subject. However, it is how your product is showcased. If you need inspiration, flip through magazines. check out how items are sitting in the photo, angles of the items, backgrounds in the images, color scheme of the photo, seasonal themes of photos. Check out Pinterest.com lots of inspirational photos there as well to give your creative photo taking skills some new juice.

3. Join Facebook, Twitter, Stumble, make a blog, use Etsy Forums, and make yourself an E-mail signature including all those wonderful social Links so your customers can follow you!

Memorial Weekend

Outdoor Grill project

Been working off and on outdoors this year on more projects. Depending on the rain, we seem to be having so much of it lately. But on the super nice days we get out there and tackle to the to do list.

We have been working on our outdoor grill, we have been concreting stone onto the grill base. We found that using some heavy duty glue with te caulking gun worked faster to stick the stones on, so we just mushed concrete into the crevices and cleaned it up a bit, now we just need to put some concrete sealer on them.

Now we are working on some raised veggie beds, just planted in them yesterday. More pics, more clipart, etc coming soon :)

Old Dishes

I have some hand-me down dishes , odds and ends from the years. Funny how much stuff we collect without actually collecting it :)

I have a new set in the cupboards and decided to give these ones a new life. Making a few for myself , friends and family.

Just measure the inside area where you would like to decorate, this one had a 6" diameter. You can use your old plates or even from a thrift shop. Decal , paint or decoupage whatever you like match your own home decor. Great way to recycle and reuse! I made this home sweet home design with decals. I wouldn't suggest using them to eat from once decorated, however :) I'm propping my own in a plate stand .

More Deck Updates - Phase 2

Excuse the mess. Work in progress.

More deck addition updates. We have added two step up levels from the octagon deck area to a built in BBQ grill. The grill was constructed with a galvanized steel frame then covered with concrete backer boards. Then stucco sides screwed on,tile top, doors for propane tank area still being finished up.

We have one more deck section to finish up that will have a water fountain. Then we will begin to work on landscaping behind the grill area and around the deck. ( The fun part to me)

Hubby is having fun with his Skid steer & backhoe that he calls his "Destructicons" moving dirt around. He had me make him some Transformer decals to put on them the other day. Boys and their toys I tell ya!! :)

We look to have some rather rainy days this week here in Ohio, so maybe I'll get back to fixing my kitchen walls this week.

Kitchen Paint can wait...

My kitchen walls were boring beige.. SO I decided to add some color. I thought I would like this soft chic green. So I dismantled my whole kitchen last Sunday. Painted and put it all back together. .... Blah... I just did not like it after all. The color actually made me feel nauseous.
So Monday Morning, I go off to Lowes and find a new Valspar paint color I thought I would like better... I dismantled the whole kitchen and began again.. I made it through 2 1/2 walls and realized .. ....Blah... this looks like specialty mustard in here. I really think I might just be Picky or Have lost my knack for color coordination.. LOL
So, currently my kitchen is Half green and Half golden... ( it's just gonna have to wait until I get in the mood again to paint. :D I'll wait for a rainy day and hope I find the right color I want this time.. I really hope the phrase "third time is a charm" works out for me.

2 years ago I constructed this garden bench with scrap lumber and painted an American flag on the seat for my mom as a gift. She loved it and has it in her flower garden.

I have not had time to create anything for Mother's Day. I have 1 week & I'm stumped for ideas... She would like to have a very large birdhouse, like 4 or 5 feet tall.

My mom loves country, prim, rustic, antiques.. I have been searching through Etsy all evening for outdoor garden or porch decor, hoping to stumble on to something I can purchase for her and just have it shipped right to her this week. { I'm happy to take any suggestions!}

Reed Diffuser Varnish Remover?!

oh sooo sad :(

I had a lovely scented oil reed diffuser with the little sticks in the bottle to make my house smell yummy sitting on my entrance table. Boo hoo!

Someone accidentally knocked the bottle over and didn't realize it. Look at the table now. (EEEK)

LOL, should I buy more and spill on the top to remove the rest of the varnish and refinish it?? ;)

For Now, I have just did a quick turn around, I put the drawers against the wall and placed some florals over the mishap. But the drawers to back are buggin' at me ;)

Building on a New Deck Addition : Phase 1

My husband and I got this big idea to build on a new deck to the side portion of our home about 3 weeks ago. Why? Well, we tend to sit on the front porch more than the back when family and friends come over. However our front porch is only about 4 feet deep.

just like any project we do around here, changes are made along the way. :D We decided why not put a fire pit in the center? Then we said hey, Let's make this Octogan.. LOL
So 2 weeks later after, digging, setting posts, building a frame and firepit. A Bazillion trips to our very local Lowes store ( 10 minutes away) gotta love it! We have the first section of this ongoing deck addition done!

Here is some of the beginning frame work.

I used some wood stain to give the deck some character, We are now on the Phase 2 of the addition, with some much needed cleanup around the work site!

We are working on the step up portion of the deck to connect on to the front porch and off the side a tad.

More pictures in the future!

Trash to Treasure -- clear glass plate redo

Thrift store purchase , a clear glass plate for .50 cents.

Only painted the backside with crackle and gold paint. Measured the front center of the plate and made a vinyl decal monogram to fit. I now have it sitting inside a wreath in the window above my kitchen sink. Which is really neat when the sun shines through it ;)

Quick, easy and fun project.

My Photo won 3rd Place!

What do you think? I designed my new business card for 2010. New fresh look.

I decided to use Overnightprints.com for business card printing. I received 250 business cards for 24.95 + shipping glossy finish was free. They arrived UPS truck in about 4 days.

It's a cold and snowy morning here in Ohio, loving this time of year.

Our family member, Kelly, all dressed up and under the tree. She's 6 year's old and weighs in at 4.5 pounds. :D LOL

Jack Russel & Toy Poodle mix and getting some gray hairs. Daughters named her when they were not even of school age yet after the Barbie Kelly doll.

It's that time to hussle up and finish shopping, wrap gifts, bake, and give lots of hugs.

P.S. Don't forget batteries for all those new gadgets and toys.

Back to School Shopping Already!

We have started the Back to school shopping already here at our house :D

So far we have just purchased the basic supplies from the school provided list they send out as requirements for each grade. Crayons, ruler, glue, tissues, etc. I picked up some cute lunch boxes. So now it's down to the Clothing & Back packs!! Oh boy... having 2 girls who no longer let mom pick out their cute little oufits and stuff.. is going to be Fun at the mall :D

Someone may need to send me a wheelchair and a lot of chocolate to make it through it .. hehehe

School does not start here until August 28th, but the stores are already pushing out the summer gear and stocking the shelves for school. Our local greenhouse is already discounting the plants & trees too. Which I need to go over and use my point card rewards to get half off my total... :D

I've been working out, boating on the lake, Painting rooms, planting flowers,watching a lot of movies at the cinema, playing on facebook, designing vinyl decals, and now planning my youngest daughters b-day party for next Sunday. We are going to do a Rock-n-Roll theme with bright colors.
